Private blacksmithing courses are now available with a master craftsman, an old school blacksmith with nearly 50 years experience…
Recommended by Osborne House as one of their ‘experiences’
Due to the ongoing demand for experiencing the artisan crafts, Steve Hogwood, Artist and Master Metalsmith is now offering LIMITEDprivate one-on-one blacksmithing classes. Now in his 70’s, he is ONLY TAKING ON SERIOUS STUDENT blacksmiths. The courses offered are for a full day where you’ll get truly personal one on one tuition.
The venue is very traditional too. So, step back in time to 1880s Australia for a day and experience what it was like to work with the local village smith – learn the art of true blacksmithing, starting with the basics and if you choose to do a course of classes increasing your skills with every class, until you too can master the full art of blacksmithing.
This is NOT a class for someone who wishes to make a knife without experience, or medieval weaponry – unless you have experience as a blacksmith. Blacksmithing is extremely enjoyable, yet hard work – so Steve is passionate about teaching you the steps slowly so that your body can adjust to the strenuous effort and build up strength slowly and steadily.
The courses run from 10.30am – 4.30pm and include everything you need for the day, such as all PPE gear, materials, equipment, and a light lunch on the veranda of the blacksmith shop!
