Who are we?
Steve Hogwood is the CEO and Director at the NEW 1910 Ironworks Lockhart.
As a long term metal smith, sculptor and restorer, with a fine arts degree. He started his career in film, and went on to work in the advertising industry collaborating on over 600 TV commercials and documentaries as an art director and writer. These days he heads up the 1910 Ironworks in Lockhart, near Wagga, where he uses his vast experience as an artisan, forging the future in wrought iron, while still mmeticulously restoring the past.

Steve fell in love with blacksmithing and the old crafts at a very young age growing up in the UK. His attention to detail is amazing and his knowledge of his craft is astonishing…

Sonny Cheema – Director/Head of Production.
Sonny Chema, business partner and our head of production at 1910, comes from a long line of foundry owners and metal smiths in India. He grew up around and in his father’s large foundry and found his love for metalwork as a young child.
He came to Australia and studied at Wollongong University in NSW and obtained a BA in Mechancal Engineering, and a Masters of Proffessional Engineering and Material Science. He has over 18 years of Foundry experiance, and about 11 years ago he moved to Wagga Wagga in the Reverina, there he joined Wagga Foundry, where he held a senior position in the foundry for over 11 years, while later setting up his own business, and eventually merging his foundry business with the 1910 Ironworks in Lockhart NSW.
His eye for detail and perfectionism is next level. Steve and Sonny merged their businesses in 2025 to form the NEW 1910 Ironworks. This business now offers the highest quality work – Blacksmithing, Casting, Stove Restoration, Vintage Restoration, Fabrication, Nickel plating and *Vitreus Enamelling ( *the last facility in the country to enamel vintage stoves). Sonny now handles the foundry, fabrication and restoration side of the business at the 1910 Ironworks in Lockhart, near Wagga Wagga.
