The September 1st and 15th ‘Going Hammer & Tongs’ classes are once again, almost booked out – so HURRY!!
Why not join us in beautiful Wildes Meadow in the Southern Highlands of NSW and experience how the past was indeed forged?
In our next series of classes we will be exploring how you make tools for your own shop, such as making tongs, drifts, punches, hammers, cold sets, hot sets and the art of forging and fabrication.
Please note we can’t except children in the blacksmith shop, only young adults because of safety/public liability and state regulations on teaching minors.
Here’s what some of the students had to say…
These blacksmith classes are a fantastic day out. Steve is a fantastic craftsman, a great instructor and (thankfully) a very patient man 😂. Get along and learn this fantastic ancient trade. Would make a great fathers days present !! Greg Berrell / Wollongong
“A very enjoyable day” Garry Studd – Carpenter and Cabinet maker / Bowral
“I had an amazing day and learnt so much” Dave Read / Carpenter / Robertson
Please note we also keep the classes small and one on one, so places are very limited.
Why not join us and step back in time with Master Blacksmith Steve Hogwood, in an authentic Blacksmith shop from the 1880s and experience how the past was forged.
Please note – These courses were designed for beginners and budding blacksmiths and are adapted on the day to fit individual learning needs.
As you can see above, the August 2018 Hammer & Tongs Blacksmith courses have been very successful and booked out quickly. We’re now in our 8th month and going strong, thanks to you and the growing interest and artisans returning to the old crafts.
Fire/heat control of the forge, drawing out, upsetting, hot riveting, forging nails/spikes and making a selection of blacksmith tools.
