In the last two Hammer Tongs Blacksmithing courses we decided to offer something a little different. That was, to get budding blacksmiths to experience the combination of metal and wood, or interesting ways of utilising forged iron work on timber.
Unfortunately these courses are now booked out, however we are now taking bookings for September 1st and 15th due to popular demand and a waiting list!!
In our next series of classes we will be exploring how you make tools for your own shop, such as making tongs, drifts, punches, hammers, cold sets, hot sets and the art of forging and fabrication.
Here’s what some of the students had to say…
“Fantastic day yet again Steve, thank you” Greg Berrell / Wollongong
“A very enjoyable day” Garry Studd – Carpenter and Cabinet maker / Bowral
“I had an amazing day and learnt so much” Dave Read / Carpenter / Robertson
Please note we also keep the classes small and one on one, so places are very limited.

Why not join us and step back in time with Steve Hogwood, a seasoned Blacksmith in an authentic Blacksmith shop from the 1880s and experience how the past was forged.
Please note – These courses were designed for beginners and budding blacksmiths and are adapted on the day to fit individual learning needs.
The August Hammer & Tongs Blacksmith courses have been very successful and are now booked out. We’re now in our 7th month and going strong, thanks to you and the growing interest and artisans returning to the old crafts.
Fire/heat control of the forge, drawing out, upsetting, hot riveting, forging nails/spikes and making a selection of blacksmith tools.
