In the July Hammer Tongs Blacksmith course we decided to offer something a little different. That was, to get budding blacksmiths to experience the combination of metal and wood, or interesting ways of utilising forged iron work on timber. Unfortunately this course is now booked out, however we have opened the shop again on August 4th due to popular demand!! 🙂 and once again we will be exploring the combination of timber and metal…
Please note we also keep the classes small, so places are very limited.

Why not join us and step back in time with Steve Hogwood, a seasoned Blacksmith in an authentic Blacksmith shop from the 1880s and experience how the past was forged.
Please note – These courses were designed for beginners and budding blacksmiths and are adapted on the day to fit individual learning needs.
The August Hammer & Tongs Blacksmith courses have been very successful, and we’re now in our 6th month and going strong thanks to you and the interest coming back to the old crafts.
Fire/heat control of the forge, scrolling work, splitting and drawing out for making door furniture, hot riveting, nail and spike making. There will also be a choice of tool making as well that will be offered on the day – That’s if I feel you’re experienced enough to try and make your first pair of tongs for your shop.
