1910 visits historic Berrima – Southern Highlands

Even with a leg as stiff as a board (old football injury), a lot of fun was had by my year 12 students and their teachers from the Central Coast. Preserved lemons were on the agenda, using the Vacola method of preserving food – I must admit, given most of the students hadn’t even picked up a preserving jar before, the calibre of jar packing, presentation and expertise was outstanding. The two winners are featured are brandishing there awards and impressive preserving skills –  and after the event I was presented with some amazing Christmas cupcakes – mmmm yum!! Check them out!

The teaching facilities at theKitchens at the Berrima primary school are outstanding too and a joy to teach in (it was all built by the teachers and parents from money donated locally). Their veggie garden was very impressive too!
